Now is a great time to be a gamer. The AAA developers are mostly coming around and releasing solid experiences with enough content to justify the price, the push for loot boxes in everything is waning in popularity & viability, and indie developers have been given more access to engine tools and publishing platforms than arguably any time prior. There’s something for everyone right now.
Speaking of platforms, there are a number of them out there. Everyone has their own opinion on which platform is the best, but there is only one answer. The Nintendo Switch is the best platform right now. Anyone telling you otherwise isn’t giving you their opinion, they’re just wrong.
But why? Let’s dive in.
Right off the bat, the Switch gives you something none of its competition really does. It’s an all-in-one platform for gaming in your living room and gaming on the go. Want to enjoy that new game at home? Pop it in, and enjoy it on the big screen. Want to play it while waiting at the doctors’ office? Just undock the Switch and take it with you.
But what about the games? The Switch has you covered and then some. There are tons of exclusives on the system, quality exclusives such as Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Bayonetta 2. That’s just a small handful; I could fill half a page just listing exclusives, but what about 3rd party support? Switch has you covered there too. NBA 2K? Doom? Wolfenstein? Diablo? Elder Scrolls? Warframe? Rocket League? Fortnite? Switch has them all. Now I know what you’re thinking, those are mostly the big dogs. What about the indie scene? OK. Hollow Knight? WarGroove? SteamWorld? Katana Zero? The list goes on and on.
The Switch is the only console out there offering an astounding number of solid exclusive experiences, combined with stellar third-party support from AAA developers and indie developers, all in a package that can be played on the big screen at home, or on the go. There’s really no other option. If you call yourself a gamer, you should already have a Switch. And if not, you should be getting one as soon as you’re done reading this, which is right abooooout, now. Go.
