Now is a great time to be a gamer. The AAA developers are mostly coming around and releasing solid experiences with enough content to justify the price, the push for loot boxes in everything is waning in popularity & viability, and indie developers have been given more access to engine tools and publishing platforms than arguably any time prior. There’s something for everyone right now.
Speaking of platforms, there are a number of them out there. Everyone has their own opinion on which platform is the best, but there is only one answer. The Sony PlayStation 4 Pro is the best platform right now. Anyone telling you otherwise isn’t giving you their opinion, they’re just wrong.
But why? Let’s dive in.
PS4 Pro gives you something none of its competition can, some of the best and most highly rated exclusives of this generation. inFamous Second Son, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spider-Man, God of War (4), Uncharted, MLB The Show, and Bloodborne are some of the heavy hitters that can only be played on the PS4. And that’s just this gen, there’s also a catalog of remasters that call the PlayStation home such as Shadow of the Colossus, Gravity Rush, God of War 3, Uncharted Collection, and The Last of Us.
What about indie support? All the biggest and best indie games are here on PlayStation too. Dead Cells, Spelunky, Celeste, Stardew Valley, Undertale, Shovel Knight, etc.
But what about playing on the go, like that glorified tablet out there calling itself a console? If you’ve got an internet connection, even if it’s using tethering from your smartphone, and a PS Vita then congratulations. You now have your PS4 on the go, wherever you go. Now I know what you’re thing, ewww streaming gaming. Well, let me tell you. Sony has it on lock. It works, it works well. Several of those exclusives I mentioned earlier I played, for at least half of the playthrough, on the go from m y PS Vita … from miles away from home. Sitting at a restaurant, waiting for my food to come? OK, I’ll sneak in some God of War. Waiting for the mechanic to fix my car? Time to play some Uncharted. On break at work between symposium presentations? Time for some inFamous. You can also play your PS4 remotely from other devices such as a computer, laptop, or the smartphone app … from anywhere you have a solid internet connection.
There are some other benefits as well, but let’s wrap this up. The PS4 pro is the only console giving you 4K gaming in the living room, remote access to your games from multiple devices, the ability to watch 4K HDR content, and arguably the best assortment of exclusive games. There’s really no other option. If you call yourself a gamer, you should already have a PS4. And if not, you should be getting one as soon as you’re done reading this, which is right abooooout, now. Go.
