Today Pokemon held a small approx 10 minute presentation with a few announcements as well as a tease for bigger news to come on 6/24/20. So while I wait for the first expansion pass to Pokémon Sword to download, let’s dive into what was revealed.
First they showed off two apps. One is a cute way to get your kids to brush their teeth properly. It’s free and called Pokémon Smile. Pokémon often does these small little things in Japan so it’s kinda nice it’s coming out over here. The second is another Pokémon mobile game. Pokémon Café Mix has you owning a small café. You can expand it, recruit Pokémon to help, and the gameplay looks similar to the Disney Tsumtsum mobile game but with a weird mixing bowl gimmick. I’m sure it’ll be a fun and standard mobile game.

After that, we had the big reveal. Once a camera interface popped on screen, you could hear the faint sound as millions of Pokémon fans around the world screamed in delight for something they’ve been wanting for, well, over 20 years. No that Pokémon AR 3DS game doesn’t count. Pokémon Snap 2!! Or rather New Pokémon Snap. It showed off a familiar looking vehicle, beautiful scenes full of vibrant Pokémon, and the promise of a fun game. This one is still under construction but I’m really excited to learn more. It was really good to see Todd and his Camera again.

In other news, Pokémon Go exists. Galarian Farfetch’d is now in the game which may mean we can get Sir Fetch’d. Victini is coming to celebrate Pokefest (which can’t happen this year). Last but not least, they teased Mega Evolution is coming. I have been insanely curious how they’ll do that in Go, so I’m excited.
Last but not least, from June 17 (today) to June 28, you can catch Zeraora in raid battles. If one million people catch/battle him during this time, everyone will get a shiny Zeraora. Time to dust off my battling hat.

That was it for the news, but there will be more on 6/24. Considering the presenter said it was a new game he was excited to introduce, it probably means one of two things. Either Pokémon Trozei is crawling out of the grave or, the more likely prediction, we may finally get news of the diamond and pearl remakes everyone has been foaming at the mouth for since Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Whatever it is, I’ll be here next week bringing you the news.
