It’s been a hot minute since we received news about The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2. Today during a small presentation, Nintendo has told us that they’re still working on BOTW2, no doubt slowed down by COVID-19. In the meantime, while we wait for more news, they surprised us with a game no one was expecting and that continues the story of Breath of the Wild.

Hyrule Warriors is a crossover of The Legend of Zelda and Hyrule Warriors. Fans loved playing as their favorite characters. I wasn’t such a fan, but I don’t enjoy the Dynasty Warriors gameplay or the story for the game. Now we have the next game in the cross over series! Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity. This game not only serves as more of the fan favorite crossover, but also a prequel!

This game goes into what happened in the war of calamity; the war 100 years before the events that happen in Breath of the Wild. The champions are also all playable as well as our knight Link and Princess Zelda. This is the part I’m most excited about. The armies of Hyrule fighting against the hoards of calamity is the perfect setting for a Warriors style game!

It will be fun to play in familiar locations before they were destroyed. Nintendo promises a robust story of the relationships and events during the dramatic events of the calamity in captivating detail. Well I’m sold. Nintendo also says players will “solve environmental puzzles, unlock weapons and skills, craft materials, visit shops to obtain items and use the power of the Sheikah Slate.” Which sounds like the perfect marriage of the two genres.

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity will releas won November 20 of this year.
